Rawalpindi: A Pakistan Navy vessel docked in Colombo for the International Fleet Review-25 has begun humanitarian relief operations in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah and heavy rains.
PNS Saif Responds Immediately
Pakistan Navy Ship Saif, currently on a scheduled port call, quickly shifted its mission to support communities affected by the cyclone. Torrential rains have triggered widespread destruction across several regions of Sri Lanka, prompting an urgent need for relief assistance.
Relief Supplies Delivered
The ship delivered emergency supplies to Sri Lankan authorities to strengthen ongoing national relief efforts. The aid package included food items, ready-to-eat meals, dry rations, first-aid materials, essential medicines and other critical equipment required for immediate response.
Navy officials said the support will continue as relief needs evolve, noting that additional humanitarian assistance is planned in coordination with local authorities.
Pakistan Emphasizes Regional Solidarity
The Pakistan Navy said the rapid response reflects its commitment to international responsibilities and its readiness to assist regional partners in times of crisis. The operation also highlights Pakistan’s longstanding cooperation with Sri Lanka and its support for regional stability.
