MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi has issued a strong response to reports linking her to an alleged drug syndicate, firmly denying all claims and cautioning the media not to use her name as clickbait.
Two days after her name surfaced in a Mumbai Police investigation into a drug network reportedly connected to underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, the Saki Saki star released a sharply worded statement on Instagram. She wrote that she does not attend parties, spends most of her time on flights, and is a workaholic with no personal life, adding that she does not associate with such individuals.
Fatehi said she only spends her free time with friends or relaxing in Dubai. She added that she works tirelessly to achieve her goals and urged people not to believe everything they read.
The actor, referring to past controversies, said it appeared her name was an easy target. “But not this time,” she stressed, recalling how false stories had previously been used in an attempt to damage her reputation. She said she had silently observed how her image was tarnished.
In her concluding remarks, she warned the media not to use her name or photos in matters unrelated to her, saying the consequences this time would be serious.
A day earlier, Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell had launched a major crackdown on the network of wanted drug dealer Saleem Dola. Following the operation, the names of several Bollywood personalities, models, recording artists, and relatives of Dawood Ibrahim reportedly emerged.
According to reports, Dola was allegedly involved in supplying mephedrone (known as M-Cat, Meow Meow, or Ice) and organizing drug-fueled parties within and outside India.
Documents have claimed that Tahir Dola had previously held such parties with individuals including Alia Parker, Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, Sidharth Kapoor, Zeeshan Siddiqui, Orhan, Abbas-Mustan, and Luka among others.
Following the developments, the Mumbai Crime Branch is now examining the financial and operational aspects of the suspected drug syndicate. Investigators are expected to summon several of the mentioned celebrities in the coming days to record their statements, after which further action may follow.
