Web Desk: National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has initiated legal proceedings after actress Momina Iqbal accused a provincial lawmaker and his wife of online harassment, cyberbullying and issuing threats, according to local media reports.

The agency summoned Member of Provincial Assembly Saqib Chadhar and his wife Samira Khan to appear before investigators on May 22 as part of the inquiry.

Iqbal alleged in her complaint that she had faced prolonged online harassment, mental intimidation and death threats from an influential political figure.

In a detailed Instagram statement posted earlier this week, the actress said she had repeatedly approached the NCCIA, the Federal Investigation Agency and Punjab Police with complaints. However, she claimed authorities failed to take effective action because of alleged political influence.

According to Iqbal, officials discouraged her instead of ensuring justice, while she and her family continued to face security threats.

The actress also called for a transparent and impartial investigation and urged authorities to provide immediate protection to her family.

In her social media statement, Iqbal tagged senior officials, government offices, television channels and media platforms to draw attention to the case.

She further expressed hope that authorities would act against anyone accused of abusing power or obstructing justice.

Following her allegations, the case sparked widespread discussion on Pakistani social media, where users demanded swift action and tagged political figures and investigative agencies in support of the actress.

The latest development has intensified public attention on cyber harassment cases in Pakistan and raised fresh questions about the role of political influence in legal proceedings.

Investigators have not yet publicly commented on the allegations, and it remains unclear what further action authorities may take following the scheduled appearance of the accused parties.
