WEBDESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad on 14 August 2025 Independence Day.
Federal ministers, school children, and citizens attended the ceremony. Children in cultural dress presented flowers to the Prime Minister on his arrival. The national anthem was sung with patriotic spirit.
The Prime Minister offered special prayers for the country’s safety, progress, and prosperity. He also laid a wreath at the Pakistan Monument.
Earlier, addressing the 78th Independence Day ceremony at Jinnah Sports Ground, Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation. He said the day was not only a celebration of freedom but also a reminder of the struggle for the Two-Nation Theory.
He called for unity and collective action. “The time has come for us to move beyond political division, personal interest, and empty slogans,” he said.
Shehbaz invited all political parties, stakeholders, and civil society to join the Misaq-i-Istehkam-i-Pakistan (Charter for Stability of Pakistan). He clarified that it was not the Charter of Economy but a broader effort to promote national unity and stability.
He said the aim was to show the world that while political differences exist, the nation stands united for Pakistan’s greater good.
The Prime Minister also thanked friendly countries for supporting Pakistan during the standoff with India on 14 August 2025.
