Loralai woke up rattled by early morning tremors. Seismic Office also reported minor activity.
The Epicentre of tremors was placed about 23km south-east of Loralai.
Luckily no reports of damage or injuries have come into light yet. The tremors were of light nature and did not induce any kind of panic. However, they did make people pause and step outside just be sure that everything is normal.
The tremors passed quickly almost as soon as people realized what was happening according to National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC).
The Seismic Office later found out that the tremors had a magnitude of 3.4. No damage has been reported yet.
Sibi also experienced a brief shake earlier this week on Tuesday.
That shake had a magnitude of 3.1. It was shallow and over in seconds. It was located about 60 kilometres north-east of the district.
Officials are still keeping a tight eye on both spots.
Some other parts of the province also faced minor tremors this month.
Balochistan province largely sits along a seismic hotspot, where the Indian plate pushes against the Eurasian plate.
Balochistan, the country’s largest province, remains sparsely populated, making rescue and relief operations especially difficult.
The region is prone to earthquakes and these tremors are a reminder. Even though the shakes were minor people remain alert. The situation is being monitored by authorities closely. People lives can be saved by early warnings and awareness. Authorities have urged the residents to follow the safety measures closely.
In Balochistan weak infrastructure and access still remain a challenge even when authorities are prepared. These minor tremors are a warning as the seismic risk in Balochistan is very high. All residents should stay vigilant. Calm has returned but caution going into the future in necessary.
