Meta shows interest in aiding Pakistan’s digital, AI growth

ISLAMABAD: As the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) continues to push for growth and innovation in Pakistan’s information technology sector marking a major advancement in the fields of digitalization and artificial intelligence, the Meta has expressed its interest in aiding Pakistan’s digital and Artificial Intelligence growth.

The Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a key meeting with a delegation from Meta to discuss collaboration in digital trade, e-commerce, and AI. During the meeting, the minister emphasized that Pakistan’s digital economy is among the fastest-growing in South Asia.

He highlighted that over 75,000 IT graduates enter the market annually, contributing to the sector’s rapid expansion. The minister added that Pakistan’s IT and related exports have seen notable growth, increasing by 18 percent to reach $3.8 billion last year.

In the first quarter of the current fiscal year alone, IT-related exports rose by 21 percent, amounting to $1.06 billion. Under the National E-Commerce Policy 2.0, Pakistan aims to expand its e-commerce market to $20 billion by 2030.

Meta expressed strong interest in supporting Pakistan’s digital progress and AI development. Both sides agreed to pursue a long-term partnership to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy.

SIFC remains actively engaged in promoting AI, digital innovation, and creative potential across the country.
