Lahore: Lahore weather experienced a slight decrease in air pollution on Friday, compared to the extreme smog levels of last week. However, according to reports, the Provincial Capital Lahore’s weather continues to rank fourth among the world’s most polluted cities.
According to the analysis of the environmental monitoring data, the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 193, placing it in the unhealthy category.
However, after the modest improvement, many localities reported severely hazardous pollution levels. As per reports, the area of the timber market emerged as the most polluted with an alarming AQI of 941, followed by the session court area at 644 and FC college at 550. The weather experts warn that such a rise in AQI readings can cause serious health problems.
According to the report of the Meteorological Department, the present temperature stands at 10°C, and the minimum temperature recorded in the morning was 7 °C. Meanwhile, a noticeable drop in temperature has increased the cold across the capital city. The Lahore city Maximum temperature is expected to reach 22°C in the daytime.
Authorities have urged residents, especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activities and take precautions as smog persists across the region.
