LAHORE: A Metro Bus met with an accident on Monday near Azadi Chowk, in Lahore leading to the temporary closure of a key section of the service.
Initial reports say the bus hit the railing installed along the Metro Bus track, causing severe damage to its front portion.
All passengers on board were safely evacuated soon after the incident.
According to officials, the Metro Bus service has been suspended from MAO College to Shahdara, while the route is being operated on a limited scale today.
The administration says full restoration of the service depends on the completion of ongoing work by LESCO.
The damaged bus is being removed from the track with the help of a crane.
The Metro Bus Authority has also launched an investigation into the incident, while repair teams are working to restore the track.
TRAFFIC DRONES
Punjab Traffic Police have started using drones in urban areas.
Initially, drones will be deployed in high-traffic and densely populated areas to improve traffic monitoring. Apart from Lahore, drones are also in use in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
According to the Traffic Police spokesperson, quick response teams will take immediate action based on the drones’ alerts. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the traffic police and follow traffic rules.
