Metro bus service partially suspended in Rawalpindi

Metro bus service partially suspended in Rawalpindi

WEBDESK: The Metro bus service in Rawalpindi has been partially suspended today (Friday) due to Chehlum processions.

According to the administration, the service between Saddar Station in Rawalpindi and Faizabad will remain closed for the day. The section of the service within Islamabad from IJP to Pak Secretariat will continue to operate as usual.

Officials said the decision was taken on the instructions of the district administration for security reasons. Alternative transport is advised for passengers travelling on the Rawalpindi section.

Authorities said the suspension is to help maintain smooth security arrangements during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, who sacrificed their lives in the battle of Karbala.

Mourning processions are being held in cities and towns across Pakistan to honour the martyrs. Security has been tightened, with containers placed to block routes around the procession areas.

In Karachi, the main Chehlum procession will start from Nishtar Park and end at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar after following its traditional route. Additional police and Rangers have been deployed at Numaish and surrounding areas.
