KARACHI: Karachi is all set to host Pakistan’s Independence Day and the “Marka-e-Haq” event, with a musical night to take place at National Stadium.
To facilitate karachiites the city’s traffic police has issued traffic and parking plan across the provincial capital.
The Karachi traffic police stated that only vehicles displaying special stickers will be permitted to enter the National Stadium through Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 11. For attendees, parking facilities have been arranged at the Expo Centre and China Ground, with shuttle services to the stadium.
The traffic police warned of heavy traffic congestion on National Stadium Road and Sir Shah Suleman Road due to the event. Citizens are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays. Additionally, buses, minibuses, and other commercial vehicles will be diverted to alternative roads. A complete ban has been imposed on heavy traffic near the stadium.
The traffic police have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement and refrain from parking cars or motorcycles on service roads.
On the other hand, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) also announced a detailed traffic plan for August 13 and 14 to ensure smooth movement during the Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq national celebrations. With the main ceremony set at the Sports Complex.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider said guests would follow colour-coded routes for entry. While several roads will be closed for regular traffic to maintain order and security.
According to the plan shared by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Srinagar Highway from Serena Underpass to Zero Point will be closed in both directions. And heavy traffic will not be allowed to enter Islamabad and Rawalpindi from 3PM on August 13 until 5PM on August 14.
