KARACHI: The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) has unveiled a report on the blast at a fireworks warehouse in Karachi, which left six people dead on MA Jinnah road.
The BDU report stated that around 500 kilograms of fireworks material was destroyed in the blast
The blast was so intense that the sound was heard 5 to 7 kilometers away.
The report revealed that the building still contains three warehouses filled with fireworks stock, while two additional containers of explosives are stored in a nearby ground.
Over 5,000 kilograms of fireworks material remains on-site of the incident, a severe risk to public safety in Karachi.
The report further states that the suspect, identified as Hanif, sourced fireworks from different cities and even imported material from abroad.
Investigations also revealed that he was manufacturing fireworks at the rear side of the same building, intensifying the danger in the densely populated Karachi neighborhood.
The BDU has recommended the immediate removal and safe disposal of all remaining explosives to prevent another potential tragedy in Karachi.

According to police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed Tariq, the total number of injured has risen to 34.
The explosion shattered the windows of surrounding buildings and ignited a fire.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, Farrukh Raza, says that the explosion in the firecracker warehouse occurred in District South. The East Police is providing all possible assistance to the Predi Police. SSP East Farrukh Raza says that assistance is being provided to relief volunteers and fire brigade personnel.
Several people were injured when a warehouse storing firecrackers exploded on MA Jinnah Road. Ten of the wounded were taken to Civil Hospital, while others received care at nearby medical facilities. Many of the injuries were caused by shards of glass from shattered windows.
The explosion, which took place in a ground-plus-two building housing both medical equipment shops and the firecracker store, also damaged nearby vehicles and shattered windows of surrounding buildings. Thick smoke spread towards the Lines Area, adding to the chaos.
