The number of vehicle emission testing facilities is being increased in Islamabad. The number of inspection points will be increased from one to four by Islamabad’s administration.

Motorist can now undergo emissions testing at F-9 Park, Lake View Park, Metro Cash and Carry and the original location D-Chowk site. This was all revealed by the Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon.

He appealed the citizens to get their vehicles inspected on time and visited all four locations. This initiative will improve compliance with environmental regulations and provide easier access for motorists.

A major crackdown was launched by Islamabad Transport Authority on smoke-emitting vehicles earlier this week. This was done to maintain and ensure and healthier Air Quality Index in the Federal Capital. The authorities have announced that a Vehicular Emission Clearance Certificate is now mandatory for all drivers.

Vehicles will not be allowed on roads without it.

Irfan Memon the Chairman repeated that smoke-emitting vehicles due to their harmful environmental impact will not be tolerated.

Staff has been instructed to turn in daily reports to ensure continuity of the enforcement drive and transparency.
