Web Desk: Authorities in Islamabad have dismissed as fake a notification circulating on social media regarding changes in business operating hours under the government’s austerity campaign.

The district administration clarified that no new notification had been issued concerning revised timings for commercial activities in Islamabad.

According to a spokesperson for the district administration, existing business hours in the capital will continue under the government’s ongoing energy conservation and austerity measures.

Officials said the notification being shared online was fabricated and did not originate from any authorised government department.

The clarification came after confusion spread among traders and residents following the circulation of the purported document across social media platforms and messaging groups.

Furthermore, the administration stated that currently enforced business timings would remain unchanged unless formally revised through official channels.

Authorities added that any future amendments to commercial operating hours would be announced through a proper notification issued by the relevant department.

Pakistan has implemented various austerity and energy-saving initiatives in recent years to reduce electricity consumption and manage economic pressures, including restrictions on commercial activity timings in some areas.

However, officials urged the public to rely only on verified government announcements and avoid sharing unconfirmed notifications online.
