NEW DELHI: India’s Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, has once again sparked controversy by blaming Pakistan for perceived failures and threatening a new military operation. Speaking at a defense debate in New Delhi, the Indian Army chief claimed that “Operation Sandor 1.0 was only a trailer; the real film is yet to begin.” His remarks come at a time when questions are being raised over the Indian military’s strategy amid recent tensions between the two countries.

During the Chanakya Defence Dialogue, journalists asked General Rawat about the outcomes of Operation Sandor. He responded, “I would like to say that Operation Sandor 1.0 was only a trailer. Our trailer lasted 88 hours; the main film has not yet started.”
According to Indian media, General Rawat once again made provocative statements about Pakistan, warning that if any situation arises in the future, India will “teach a lesson” and “prove its responsibility.”
Pakistan has not issued an official response to these remarks. However, defense analysts suggest that the aggressive statements are an attempt by Indian leadership to divert attention from past military shortcomings. Experts also note that many of the allegations India has leveled against Pakistan have not been substantiated with evidence at the international level.
Tensions between the two nations escalated earlier this year in May, when India allegedly attempted a military action, which Pakistan says it countered effectively and in a timely manner. Pakistani military officials stated that the attempted action was foiled and no Pakistani military assets were harmed, while emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the region.
Globally, statements on Indo-Pak tensions continue to emerge, but experts argue that serious diplomatic engagement, rather than provocative rhetoric, is essential for maintaining regional peace and stability.
