Islamabad: On the directives of the Prime Minister, the government has decided to construct a new international-standard convention centre in the federal capital.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the proposed site near the Murree Road Bharakahu Bypass, where he reviewed the location earmarked for the project.
During the visit, the interior minister issued immediate instructions for the removal of all illegal encroachments from the site. He directed authorities to take indiscriminate legal action against encroachers and demolish all illegal structures.
Mohsin Naqvi made it clear that no concessions or compensation would be given to illegal occupants, stating that providing international-standard facilities in Islamabad is a key commitment of the government.
He said the completion of the convention centre would facilitate the hosting of major international events, including the SCO Summit, and help project a positive image of Pakistan at the global level.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
