⏱ 2 minute read

Web desk: The Punjab government has decided to take major steps to protect the public from inflation during Ramadan. Consequently, officials are working to make essential goods more affordable.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, an important meeting on the Ramadan relief package was held. Special Assistant for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt chaired the meeting. During the meeting, participants discussed preparations for Sahulat Bazaars and Ramadan Bazaars across the province.

The meeting decided that all seventy six Sahulat Bazaars in Punjab will become fully operational before Ramadan starts. This will ensure that citizens can access essential food items at reduced prices.

Officials said the bazaars will offer flour, sugar, pulses, rice, ghee, cooking oil, vegetables, fruits, chicken, eggs, and other daily use items at official rates. The government will monitor supply and quality closely.

Salma Butt stated that on the Chief Minister’s urgent instructions, nine new Sahulat Bazaars will open in various districts. These new bazaars will help residents in remote and densely populated areas benefit from the relief package. Special district level committees have been formed to manage these bazaars.

Deputy commissioners and the Sahulat Bazaar Authority will handle administration, pricing, quality control, and supply chains. Moreover, the government will not tolerate negligence or profiteering at any level.

Salma Butt emphasized that the government will not compromise on prices, quality, or availability in Sahulat Bazaars, Ramadan Bazaars, or Sahulat on Wheels. Furthermore, providing safe, affordable, and high quality food remains the top priority. Food safety teams will stay active in the field throughout Ramadan.

The government will ensure full official branding in all bazaars. This will help the public clearly identify the official Ramadan package and prevent corruption or fraud.

Authorities will display official price lists in prominent locations. Additionally, a special monitoring and complaint system will quickly address public grievances. Teams will monitor prices and quality daily to ensure real relief during Ramadan.
