Web Desk: Election authorities finalized all administrative and logistical preparations for the upcoming regional elections across 10 districts in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Voters will cast ballots in 24 constituencies spanning the region’s three administrative divisions. The Election Commission confirmed that 403 candidates completed their paperwork and entered the final phase of the race.

Independent contenders dominate the playing field with 272 candidates running on individual platforms, while various political parties fielded 131 candidates.

To accommodate the influx of voters, the regional election commission established 1,389 polling stations. A massive, fully deployed public workforce will manage these stations on polling day.

According to the Election Commission’s Media Coordinator, the finalized deployment features 1,389 Presiding Officers, 2,450 Assistant Presiding Officers, and 2,450 Polling Officers.

Meanwhile, security operations remain robust across the northern territory. The Gilgit-Baltistan Police reported that political campaigns intensified significantly over the last several weeks, but the overall security environment remains stable and under control.

Police records show that local authorities successfully monitored 614 peaceful political events and campaign activities since May 1. This campaign trail included 62 major public rallies and gatherings organized by various political camps.

Following these peaceful events, security officials expressed high confidence that the electoral process will proceed in an orderly manner under the current security matrix.
