Web Desk: The nationwide strike called by the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has entered its fourth consecutive day in Karachi, sparking widespread concerns over potential shortages and price hikes of essential commodities across the country.
Malik Shahzad Awan, President of the Goods Transport Alliance, confirmed that recent talks with government representatives failed to yield results, prompting the alliance to maintain its strike stance. He emphasized that while transporters have not closed the door on negotiations, the deadlock can only be broken if the government takes concrete and serious steps to address their grievances.
The nationwide strike was declared for an indefinite period in response to recent surges in petroleum product prices and the implementation of daily price adjustments. Transporters argue that these rapid price revisions severely impact operational planning and render freight transport unsustainable.
With freight operations suspended at major logistics hubs in Karachi, supply chain disruptions are threatening to inflate the cost of everyday goods if an agreement is not reached swiftly.
