Demonstrators demanded the immediate arrest of those behind the killing.
Authorities said several buildings in the capital were set on fire.
These included offices of the country’s two leading newspapers.
Officials added that staff members were trapped inside the buildings during the unrest.
His body arrived in Dhaka on Friday evening from Singapore. Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG 585 landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:49 p.m., according to Bangladesh media. Authorities declared a one-day state mourning on Saturday, and his funeral prayers are scheduled after Zuhr at Manik Mia Avenue.
