Fight for Glory: Lahore to host International Boxing Championship

LAHORE: The 2nd International Boxing Championship is set to take place in Lahore from November 26 to 29, bringing together top fighters from across the world. The “Fight for Glory” event will be hosted at the Jinnah Sports Complex, Lahore Garrison, and is being organised with the support of the World Boxing Association (WBA).

A total of 44 professional boxers from 15 countries will compete in the championship, including six Pakistani fighters and 38 international contenders. Pakistani participants include Wasim, Waqas, Asim Zaman, Mohibullah, Janiya and Komal Akhlaq.

Boxers from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Mexico and several other countries are participating. American fighters Peter Dobson and Steve Geffrard, Germany’s Kevin Boakye, and Mexico’s Eduardo Baez and Jesus Saracho are among the prominent names in the lineup. Competitors from Morocco, France, the Netherlands and Argentina will also be in action.

Four notable boxers from Thailand are scheduled to arrive in Lahore, while seven fighters from the Dominican Republic will participate. Athletes from South Korea, the Philippines, Ghana and Nigeria are also part of the championship. British-Pakistani boxer Lara Ikram will additionally represent at the event.

A special security plan has been finalised for the championship in Lahore. The organisers say the event aims to promote Pakistan’s positive image internationally while strengthening sports diplomacy and cultural harmony.

The first International Boxing Championship was successfully held in Quetta in May 2025. The 2nd edition in Lahore has been arranged through joint efforts of the Lahore Corps and the Pakistan Boxing Federation.
