Web desk: Field Marshal Asim Munir is undertaking an official trip to the United States (US), where he is engaged in a busy schedule of meetings with senior American political and military leaders, as well as members of the Pakistani community living abroad.
Inter-Services Public Relations, ISPR, stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and addressing common security challenges faced by both nations.
As part of the visit, the Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir travelled to Tampa to attend the retirement ceremony of General Michael Kurilla, the outgoing commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).
He also took part in the official change-of-command ceremony, where Admiral Brad Cooper formally assumed leadership.
Field Marshal Munir praised General Kurilla for his significant role in enhancing military-to-military relations between Pakistan and the US. And conveyed his best wishes to Admiral Cooper, expressing confidence that both sides would continue to work together to overcome shared challenges.
In addition to these ceremonies, the Field Marshal met with General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and discussed matters of mutual professional interest.
During the meeting, he extended an invitation to General Kain to visit Pakistan.
The Field Marshal also held talks with defence chiefs from friendly nations on the sidelines of the visit, further broadening Pakistan’s network of military cooperation.
During the visit to the US, Field Marshall Munir had an interactive session with Pakistani-Americans.
He emphasised their roles and effects in making a stable and successful Pakistan.
The diaspora, in turn, voiced its determination to contribute to the advancement and well-being of the nation in a more meaningful symbolic exchange.
