England crush India by 9 wickets

England defeated India by nine wickets in the fourth T20I, thanks to a blistering 79 off just 35 balls from captain Harry Brook.


Playing in Bristol, India posted 158/7 in their 20 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 80 off 49 balls, including four fours and five sixes, while Shivam Dube contributed 22. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue claimed two wickets each for England.


In reply, England chased down the target with ease in the 14th over, with 37 balls to spare. After Jos Buttler was dismissed for 13, opener Phil Salt and captain Harry Brook put together an unbeaten 146-run partnership for the second wicket to guide England home.


Brook smashed 79 from 35 deliveries, hitting eight fours and four sixes, while Salt remained unbeaten on 59. The emphatic nine-wicket victory gives England an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

The was the second series loss under new captain Shreyas Iyer, who is in struggle to search for his first victory as India’s T20I captain.

Earlier, India’s last two series defeats against England came during the 2018 tour, when they lost the ODI series 2-1 and the Test series 4-1.

Since then, India had remained triumphant against England, winning eight of their 10 bilateral series, with the remaining two being drawn Test series in England that ended 2-2.
