Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Allama Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has announced the Nisab (minimum amounts) for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya-e-Sawm for the current year.
For this year, the minimum amount of Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya-e-Sawm has been set at Rs 300 per person. The Chairman stated that according to wheat flour, Rs 300 should be paid, while according to barley, Rs 1,100 should be paid as Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya-e-Sawm.
Similarly, according to dates, Rs 1,600; raisins, Rs 3,800; munakka (dried grapes), Rs 5,400; and according to government-issued flour, Rs 200 should be paid as Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya-e-Sawm.
The Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology said that Sadqa-e-Fitr is obligatory on every Muslim, whether slave or free, male or female, young or old. He advised financially well-off individuals not to limit themselves to wheat only, but to pay Sadqa-e-Fitr according to their financial capacity so that the maximum number of deserving people can be helped.
