CDA begins fines to curb littering in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started issuing immediate fines to individuals and organisations caught littering or dumping waste across Islamabad.

Between November 18 and 25, 2025, CDA teams carried out enforcement actions in various sectors, including E-11, I-8, I-10, G-10, F-7, G-9, F-10, F-11, G-11, F-6, G-6, as well as areas like Bhara Kahu and Lehtrar Road.

A CDA official emphasized, “Islamabad belongs to all of us. Residents should use designated bins for waste and avoid littering. We also urge citizens to report violations promptly so that together we can keep our capital clean and green.”

The authority made it clear that fines will continue to be enforced consistently, and the campaign will gradually cover all sectors of the city.

On November 13, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad announced new measures under the Safe City Project to strengthen security in the capital.

Speaking to the media, Minister Talal Chaudhry stated that the government is stepping up efforts to expand and enhance the Safe City Project to ensure full protection across Islamabad.

The Inspector General revealed the launch of a new “Safe Neighbour” program, which will gather detailed information about citizens, including visitors to residential areas. This data will help authorities quickly verify identities and respond to any security issues.

The Deputy Commissioner added that a house-to-house survey would begin on November 17, with police teams working alongside district officials. The survey aims to map every household and its residents on Google Maps. Authorities urged residents to cooperate fully to help Islamabad become a model safe city.

Chaudhry also mentioned that vehicles and motorcycles will require electronic tags to enter Islamabad, while a comprehensive monitoring system for all vehicles is being implemented.
