Canada officially clears Nov 23 for Khalistan Referendum

OTTAWA: Canada has given the green light for the Khalistan Referendum to be held on November 23, a move widely welcomed by the global Sikh advocacy organization Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).

The vote will be conducted at Ottawa’s historic Billings Estate National Historic Site, where preparations are already in full swing.

Organizers say that thousands of Sikhs from the U.S., Europe, and other parts of the world have begun arriving in Canada to take part in what many consider a major political moment for the Sikh community.

In a video message, SFJ’s General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun lauded the Canadian authorities for allowing the referendum, calling it a recognition of the Sikh community’s peaceful and democratic right to voice its political stance. He noted that the November 23 vote represents an important milestone in the Sikhs’ ongoing push for the right to self-determination.

Pannun stressed, “The Khalistan Referendum is a lawful, nonviolent democratic exercise.” He added, “The decision to allocate the Billings Estate, one of Canada’s national heritage sites, shows the government’s confidence in the Sikh community’s commitment to democratic principles.”

Pannun urged Sikhs to participate responsibly: “We call on voters to come to the Billings Estate on November 23 and cast their ballots peacefully.”

He further stated that the referendum is a legitimate and democratic step toward seeking freedom for Indian Punjab. According to him, Sikhs around the world will continue expressing their political will through democratic channels, and on November 24, Sikh voters globally will reaffirm their stance through the ballot.

The Canadian approval of the Khalistan Referendum is being seen as a major development in Sikh political activism and a reflection of Canada’s enduring support for free expression and democratic rights.

Preparations in full swing:

Public momentum for the Khalistan referendum is in full zeal in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary. Preparations for the next phase are now in full swing in the capital, Ottawa. Meanwhile, rallies and protest marches are being held in several cities across eastern Canada to energise the campaign and encourage maximum participation in the upcoming vote.

The referendum aims to highlight the Sikh community’s demand for the right to self-determination at the international level. Despite pressure from the Indian government, the movement says it is steadily pressing ahead with its objectives.

Canadian authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the process remains peaceful. Analysts note that the referendum’s political and symbolic significance could influence both the collective sentiment of Canada’s Sikh community and local political dynamics.

International concerns grow over Indian State interference in Canada and US:

Fresh revelations have emerged regarding alleged interference by Indian government and intelligence officials in Canada and the United States, with intercepted communications reportedly indicating direct involvement from New Delhi.

Experts say the evidence suggests that India’s state-sponsored activities have now crossed international borders, warning that extremist Hindutva ideology has increasingly influenced and “poisoned” key state institutions. Analysts argue that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, India has transformed into an aggressive and irresponsible state on the global stage.

Investigative findings claim that Indian authorities have been linked to covert operations aimed at silencing dissidents living abroad. Indian agencies have already been accused of orchestrating the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada as well as an attempted attack in the United States.

“This is not diplomacy. It is cross-border terrorism,” experts remarked, stressing that India is now targeting its critics and minority voices even beyond its own territory.

Observers urge the international community to take immediate notice of what they describe as India’s escalating pattern of state violence.

The reports, they say, reaffirm Pakistan’s longstanding position and expose what they call the “real face” of India to the world.

From Pahalgam to Delhi, and from Canada to the United States, the narrative appears consistent and only the victims change. Analysts conclude that India has effectively become a hub of international state-backed terrorism.
