Web Desk: Jail Authorities are expected to allow the daughter of former first lady Bushra Bibi to meet her mother at Adiala Jail in the coming days, according to sources familiar with ongoing negotiations aimed at easing tensions surrounding family visits.

The expected development follows a series of confidential contacts and backchannel efforts involving relevant authorities and intermediaries, the sources said.

According to informed sources, informal communication channels helped revive the possibility of another meeting after previous requests faced obstacles.

Bushra Bibi’s daughter had earlier been granted permission to visit her mother in jail. However, tensions reportedly emerged after details of the meeting were shared with Bushra Bibi’s sister and later circulated on social media.

Authorities viewed the public disclosure as a breach of an understanding that details of such meetings would remain private, the sources added.

Meanwhile, efforts are also underway to secure permission for the sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan to meet him.

Sources said progress on those requests could depend on whether family members provide written assurances that they will avoid making public statements regarding the meetings.

Separately, sources said concerns have been conveyed to the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf over recent remarks attributed to Sohail Afridi.

The concerns reportedly surfaced after statements linked to Afridi during a public gathering in Pishin and a May 14 meeting at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad with journalists associated with foreign media organizations.

According to intelligence assessments cited by the sources, some of Afridi’s remarks were perceived as direct criticism of the military, triggering unease within official circles.

The concerns were later communicated to senior PTI leaders, the sources said.

One source claimed that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was informed about the matter and assured officials that such incidents would not recur if the allegations proved accurate.

However, when contacted for comment, Gohar declined to discuss the issue.

Sources described the expected meeting between Bushra Bibi and her daughter as part of broader efforts by some quarters to lower political tensions and encourage confidence-building measures between stakeholders.
