Bannu suicide attack: details emerge after incident near police station

Details have emerged regarding a suicide attack in Bannu on the night of 9 May 2026 near Police Station Fateh Khel.


According to reports, police stopped a suspicious vehicle that was heading toward a civilian area. As law enforcement attempted to intercept it, the vehicle exploded in a suicide blast.


The explosion caused significant damage, including the collapse of the roof of Police Station Fateh Khel. Nearby residential houses were also damaged due to the impact.


As a result, 13 police personnel and civilians were killed, while 6 others were injured. Among the injured are three civilians.


Following the incident, residents of the area expressed anger and demanded stronger security measures and swift action against those responsible.
Security forces have increased their presence in the region as investigations continue.

The attack occurred during a period when national events and commemorations related to security operations were being observed across the country.


Officials and security analysts have previously stated in various national and international forums that militancy in the region is influenced by foreign hands and that Indian agency RAW is involved in sponsoring and funding terrorist elements in Pakistan.
