Web Desk: Tensions flared in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday after the convoy of former Prime Minister and former IPP president Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was reportedly attacked in the Bandi area of Tain Dhalkot, District Poonch, during a political campaign.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m., when the convoy was allegedly stopped by workers associated with the Awami Action Committee (AAC). Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was campaigning in LA-22 (Pachiot) alongside party workers as part of his political outreach when the confrontation took place.

Reports indicate that the situation quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire. As a result, two IPP political workers reportedly sustained injuries. The identities of the injured and the nature of their wounds have not yet been officially disclosed.

Authorities have not yet issued a comprehensive statement detailing the sequence of events, the circumstances that led to the confrontation, or whether any arrests have been made. Security agencies are expected to investigate the incident, while additional information is awaited from local administration and law enforcement officials.

The reported attack has sparked concern over the security of political leaders and the increasing tensions surrounding political activities in the region. Political observers have urged restraint from all parties and called for a transparent investigation to establish the facts and hold those responsible accountable.
