Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been suspended for violating the ICC Anti-Doping Code.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the 32-year-old was tested after Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 7 February 2026. His sample tested positive for the prohibited substance Carboxy-THC.
Nawaz admitted to the anti-doping violation, stating that the prohibited substance had not been used to enhance his sporting performance but for another purpose.
Taking his explanation into account, the ICC imposed a three-month period of ineligibility, effective from 1 May 2026, the date on which he voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension.
The ICC said that if Nawaz successfully completes an approved substance abuse treatment programme, his sanction will effectively be reduced to one month.
As he has already served around two and a half months of suspension, he will not have to serve any further ban if he completes the programme.
The ICC has also disqualified all of Nawaz’s cricketing results recorded between 7 February and 1 May 2026.
