armed infiltration

Kurram: Security forces thwarted an attempted armed infiltration from across the Afghanistan border in Kurram district, officials and local sources said on Saturday.

Suspicious Movement Spotted Near Border

Local sources reported that on 29 November, armed individuals were seen moving suspiciously near the Pak–Afghan border, apparently preparing to cross into Pakistan. Security personnel monitoring the area acted immediately once the movement was detected.

Security Forces Respond Swiftly

According to officials, Pakistani forces engaged the infiltrators with both light and heavy weapons. The sudden counterfire forced the armed group to retreat in panic, fleeing back toward Afghan territory.

Border Tensions Highlighted Earlier

The incident follows comments made on 25 November by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), who told senior journalists that Afghan forces at times provide fire cover to militants and smugglers attempting to cross the border.
He said Afghan units have occasionally fired at Pakistani posts to divert attention while militants make infiltration attempts.

Increased Vigilance in Kurram

Residents and officials say unusual movement has been observed for several days along the Kurram stretch of the border, prompting heightened surveillance by Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies.

Sources warned that any further provocation or infiltration attempt from Afghan forces or militants would be met with a firm and immediate response.
