Former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Ali Amin Gandapur, has expressed anger after confirming that his security was withdrawn by the provincial government. However, the KP government has denied the claims.
Speaking to the media, Gandapur said his security was withdrawn on the orders of the Chief Security Officer. He stated that he had one jammer vehicle, two double-cabin vehicles, and a 14-member staff including a driver.
He added that Dera Ismail Khan is a sensitive area and that he has previously received threat alerts due to his role as former chief minister and his government’s policies against terrorism.
DI Khan being heavily affected by terrorism, his security was removed. He further claimed that upon inquiring from the Chief Minister, he was told that the “orders came from above.”
He also remarked that if there was a shortage of vehicles at the Chief Minister’s House, he was willing to send his own vehicles back, adding that if security or vehicles were offered to him again, he would refuse to accept them.
“Even though our party is in government in the province, this unjustified step has been taken,” he said.
Earlier, the Press Secretary to KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi dismissed the circulating reports, stating that no decision had been made to withdraw Gandapur’s security and no such instructions had been issued to the relevant authorities.
