Web Desk: The Home Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has initiated inquiry against two individuals Shaukat Nawaz Mir and Khawaja Mehran, alleging involvement in sedition and anti-state activities, officials said on Tuesay.
Authorities said they have ordered investigations into speeches, writings, publications and electronic communications attributed to the accused, which fall under Section 124-A of the AJK Penal Code.
The Home Department said it reviewed available records and material before concluding that the allegations required further investigation under the law.
The cases would proceed under Section 196 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, under which district police chiefs have been directed to complete inquiries and submit challans before the relevant courts.
According to official notifications, both cases will be examined further based on evidence and records already collected.
Separately, officials said investigators are reviewing a purported leaked audio call dated June 6, in which the two individuals allegedly discussed plans involving actions against state institutions in Rawalakot.
The audio was reportedly broadcast by multiple national media outlets, according to sources.
Iinvestigators are examining possible links between the recorded conversation and subsequent violent incidents reported in Rawalakot, adding that the similarity has strengthened the scope of inquiry.
Investigating agencies are reviewing allegations related to planning, incitement, coordination and any potential connection between the communication and later events, officials said.
Authorities have also directed SSP Muzaffarabad and SSP Mirpur to complete investigations and submit challans to the respective courts.
The investigation will cover all aspects, including alleged attacks on state institutions, damage to public property, disruption of law and order and incitement to violence.
Anyone found involved in planning, facilitating or encouraging violent activity would be held accountable under the law as investigations continue.
