Afghanistan to Balochistan? BLA terrorists using leftover US weapons

⏱ 1 minute read

Web desk: Balochistan Liberation Army terrorists are using weapons left behind by U.S. forces. The issue has raised concern after recent attacks in the region. Attention has now shifted to how such weapons may have reached militant groups.

BLA attacker involved in a recent incident was equipped with United States supplied Afghan Army weapons. It lists advanced military gear allegedly used during the attack.

The listed equipment includes an FN M16A4 rifle priced at 1929 dollars. It also includes an LMT M203 grenade launcher priced at 2050 dollars. A Steiner DBAL A3 aiming laser is listed at 3557 dollars. PVS7 GA3 night vision goggles are listed at 5280 dollars.

The total cost per attacker at around 13000 dollars. This is roughly equal to 3.5 crore Pakistani rupees. If one hundred attackers carried similar equipment the total value would reach about 3.5 billion Pakistani rupees.

A question raises about funding. How groups described as poor could afford such weapons. It also questions who may be buying or supplying this equipment for them.
