Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur has called for consensus on major projects like the Kalabagh Dam in the wider national interest.
As per details, the Chief Minister said that in the name of provincialism Pakistan cannot be harmed. He said that all reservations must be addressed to initiate such a project. “Everyone must be satisfied, and such projects should be carried out for our children, future generations and Pakistan,” he added, stressing that the broader national benefit should not be compromised.
Referring to the ongoing crisis, the KP CM noted that the province was currently facing heavy rains, cloudbursts and flash floods. He said relief and rescue activities were being conducted using available resources.
“Punjab is our brother, and the people living there are our own,” he stated, adding that his government had offered Punjab assistance wherever needed. Gandapur stressed that KP shared in Punjab’s pain and would stand with them in difficult times.
The statement came at the time when Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said preparations are under way for a super flood likely to hit Sindh in next 48 hours.
“Arrangements are in place to manage 900,000 cusecs at Guddu Barrage. Evacuations may be needed in some areas” he noted.

He told private media that people in at risk zones have been informed. “Local teams are guiding families on safe routes and shelter points.”
“Specific villages have been marked for evacuation if the flow rises between 700,000 and 900,000 cusecs” he added. He further mentioned “residents in these places have received notices and are asked to stay ready.”
Sindh super flood: river flows and travel time
Water levels at Trimmu are falling, said CM. “The floodwater will move toward Panjnad and will take more than three days to arrive. Field reports are being checked to refine timings”, he reiterated.
At Panjnad water from the Sutlej and Ravi will also join the flow. “Only after that will it be clear how much water may reach Guddu Barrage and how fast it will travel” noted by CM Sindh.
It usually takes two days for water to move from Panjnad to Guddu.
