Will it rain tomorrow in Karachi?
Karachi is likely to continue experiencing monsoon showers until August 23. The city could see more rainfall tomorrow, on Thursday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that strong monsoon currents are affecting most parts of Sindh.
“Widespread rain-wind/thundershower (with scattered heavyfalls at times very heavy) is expected in Mithi, Tharparker, Umer Kot, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, Jamshoro and Dadu, while at isolated places in Sukkur, Ghotki, Naushahro Feroze, Larkana, Khairpur and Jacobabad” according to the Sindh weather update.
Several areas of Karachi experienced moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder, while some localities faced downpours throughout the day.
The PMD warned that further showers with thunder and lightning are possible tomorrow. Most areas are expected to receive moderate rainfall, though a few places may experience heavy showers.
Meteorologists said the ongoing monsoon system will continue to impact Karachi and other parts of Sindh until August 23, affecting daily life and adding to the risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas.
Heavy rain, thunder lash Karachi
Stormy rain with thunder and lightning continues in Karachi. Heavy downpours have been recorded in various areas. Including Nooriabad, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Malir, Airport Road, Landhi, Defence, PECHS, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Scheme 33, and Sirjani, causing several accidents.
Following the rainfall, the death toll over the past 48 hours has risen to 19.
Rain has started to pour once again in flood struck Karachi.
Several regions of the city are experiencing rain as of now. Areas including Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-johar are experiencing rain as of now. Heavy rain has started in Karachi, causing severe difficulties for vehicles.
Rescue operations by Pakistan Army teams are continuing in Karachi. Soldiers remained busy throughout the day, assisting people and vehicles affected by heavy rainfall in different parts of the city.
With the help of army rescue vehicles, many stranded cars were pulled to safety. Elderly citizens and children were also shifted to secure locations by the troops. The army has said that its personnel will keep relief efforts ongoing until the situation improves.
The death toll from rain-related incidents in Karachi has climbed to 15 as the city continues to struggle with the aftermath of Tuesday’s heavy monsoon downpour and widespread urban flooding, according to media reports.
Rescue officials said five people lost their lives when a wall collapsed in Gulistan-e-Johar, while another child was killed in a similar tragedy in Orangi Town. Several others died due to electrocution, including one victim in New Karachi and two more in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
Authorities also recovered the bodies of two men who drowned, one from a drain near Guru Mandir and another from Khameeso Goth. Two more people were reported dead near Natha Khan, while another man was electrocuted close to Shahrah-e-Faisal.
The heavy rainfall caused severe waterlogging across Karachi, submerging roads and disrupting normal life. Large parts of the city remain affected as relief and rescue efforts continue.
