King Charles expresses sorrow over lives lost in Pakistan floods

Web desk: Britain’s King Charles III has expressed sorrow over the devastation caused by flash floods in northern Pakistan.

In a message shared on Wednesday, the King conveyed condolences over the heavy losses brought by the severe weather. And also voiced grief at the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of relief workers.

He extended his sympathy to the affected families. He assured the people of Pakistan that he stands with them during this difficult period. Additionally, pledging support in their time of need.

Today, in a separate instance, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited flood-hit areas. To review the situation and meet with victims.

Speaking to people in Buner, the Prime Minister said, “The federal government will work with the provinces, will work for the flood victims.”

He promised that all available resources would be used to help affected families without discrimination. Shehbaz Sharif noted that more than 700 lives have been lost in the recent floods. Including over 300 deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Field Marshal Asim Munir, during his visit, met army, police, and civil administration officials involved in relief operations. He praised their work and reaffirmed that “Protection and relief of flood victims is the top priority.”

The NDMA confirmed that relief supplies, including tents, blankets, food, medicines, and equipment, were dispatched to Bajaur and Mansehra on Wednesday, to be distributed fairly through local administrations.

DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said road networks in KP had been badly damaged, with engineer battalions and medical units deployed. So far, over 6,000 injured people have been treated at medical camps.

As the death toll continues to rise in KP, the provincial government has announced a week-long closure of schools in affected districts from 19 to 25 August.
