Web desk: In India’s north-eastern state of Nagaland, calls for independence are once again gaining momentum. With many describing the movement as a major failure of Prime Minister Modi’s Hindutva government.
The spokesperson of the Nagaland Army issued a strong statement criticising the Indian authorities. And urging the people to stand together.
He warned that “our land, our identity and our future are at risk”, stressing that the people of Nagaland now view the struggle. Not just as an armed resistance but as a broader public movement.
The statement highlighted that the Modi government has been unable to silence the voices of Nagas. The spokesperson said the people themselves are now leading the independence drive: “We are glad that this movement has become the struggle of every individual in Nagaland.”
He appealed to citizens to defend their history and homeland. Adding: “When our house is on fire, we must not allow ourselves to be divided.”
The Nagaland Army called on the international community to support the region’s right to decide its own future, including the possibility of a referendum.
The spokesperson also claimed that freedom was within reach: “If our existence continues, it means we still have a land of our own. Soon we will be with our land, our history and our future.”
He further accused India of occupying not only Nagaland but also other disputed territories such as Kashmir and Junagadh. Saying that the wave of resistance was spreading across all these regions.
Concluding his remarks, he expressed solidarity with Kashmir, stating: “That time is not far when our brothers and sisters in Kashmir will also breathe freely after breaking away from India’s occupation.”
This statement comes at a time when anti-India protests and pro-independence slogans are once again echoing across Nagaland. Drawing the attention of the international community to the region’s shifting political landscape.
