Web Desk: Security forces repelled an attempted attack on a customs checkpoint at Ziarat Cross in Balochistan on Tuesday, according to a security statement issued as part of Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3.

The statement said terrorists belonging to the groups referred to by Pakistani authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan tried to assault the checkpoint but were met with resistance from security personnel.

Security personnel returned fire and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers, forcing them to withdraw from the area, the statement said.

During the exchange of gunfire, a fire erupted inside a customs warehouse at the site, according to the statement.

Authorities said the blaze was brought under control and did not report further details about the extent of damage.

Meanwhile, additional security personnel have reached the area to reinforce the troops already deployed at the checkpoint.

Security forces have launched a search and clearance operation to locate any terrorists who may have remained in the vicinity, the statement said.

The operation is continuing, with authorities maintaining heightened security around the checkpoint and surrounding areas.

The incident comes as Pakistani security forces continue operations against terrorist groups under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3.

Authorities have stepped up security and counterterrorism activity in several parts of the country in response to terrorist attacks and attempted assaults on security installations.
