The British Council, in partnership with the Scottish Government, has invited applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarship Scheme for Young Women and Girls 2026–27, while the deadline for submitting applications has been extended to September 15, 2026.

The aim of this scholarship program is to support women from financially disadvantaged backgrounds in Pakistan in pursuing higher education. The program was launched in 2013, and so far, more than 25,000 female students across Pakistan have received educational support under the scheme.

According to James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council Pakistan, over the past decade, the scholarship scheme has enabled more than 25,000 women and girls to access school and university education. The program is making quality education more affordable while creating new educational opportunities for young women.

The scholarships are available to eligible female students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s programs at HEC-recognized universities in Pakistan. The scholarship covers various fields, including education, agriculture and food security, sustainable energy, health sciences, climate change, and STEM engineering. Applications can be submitted for both bachelor’s and master’s levels in STEM subjects.

Under the scholarship, the tuition fees of selected students will be paid, while university hostel expenses will also be provided where required. Female students living in on-campus hostels will also receive travel expenses for journeys between their homes and universities twice a year.

Master’s students will also receive research funding to access quality laboratories, equipment, and necessary facilities for their research work.

Postgraduate students can receive scholarships for two-year master’s or MPhil programs, while undergraduate students can receive scholarships for four-year bachelor’s degree programs in eligible fields.

Applicants must be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan and must have a confirmed offer of admission to the relevant degree program at an HEC-recognized university.

The British Council has also particularly encouraged female students from minority communities and persons with disabilities to apply.

Applications for the scholarship can be submitted online until September 15, 2026. Eligibility criteria, application procedures, and other details are available on the British Council Pakistan website:
