Ahead of the second Test of the ongoing series against the West Indies, important changes are expected in the Pakistan team.
According to details, Shan Masood has been ruled out of the series and the England tour due to severe back pain, following which Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel have been added to the squad.
Both players also took part in the team’s training session, while Owais Zafar is also part of the squad. However, experienced batters are more likely to be preferred for the important match.
The team management is also considering changes to the batting lineup.
One possibility is that Abdullah Shafique could bat at No. 3, while Babar Azam could retain his preferred No. 4 position.
In addition, the option of fielding seven specialist batters is also under consideration, which could pave the way for Saud Shakeel’s return to the playing XI.
A change in the bowling department is also expected. Pakistan’s fast bowlers were slower than their West Indian counterparts in the first Test, which could provide an opportunity for young, quick pacer Ubaid Shah.
If the pitch once again proves helpful for fast bowlers, Pakistan could also consider playing with one fewer spinner and adding an extra batter or another fast bowler.
