The violent agenda of banned Joint Awami Action committee seeking to undermine peace in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has once again come to the forefront, with recent developments in Rawalakot highlighting what authorities describe as an organized campaign.
According to the preliminary interrogations by law enforcement agencies, the trained sniper shooter arrested earlier today has been identified as Muhammad Abid. The detainee confessed his association with the banned JAAC armed group who has been involved in numerous violence incidents against security forces.
The suspect confessed that he and 10 to 15 associates were injured during an overnight exchange of fire with Rangers. He further claimed that he was carrying a firearm and alleged that four to five Rangers personnel were injured in the gunfire.
The detainee also claimed that 100 to 150 armed members of the banned committee remain deployed at various locations with weapons.
According to the suspect’s confession, he had been brought from abroad around two weeks earlier for this specific purpose.
He also reportedly admitted to being a trained sniper, a claim that suggests the presence of professionally trained armed individuals among the crowd.
Experts say the presence of armed elements during the banned committee’s protest indicates prior planning and a clear operational objective behind the unrest.
It is worth noting that law enforcement agencies continue to perform their duties with restraint, responsibility, and professionalism to maintain peace and public order.
