The counting of votes is underway after polling concluded in 13 constituencies of Mirpur Division during the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly general elections. Unofficial and preliminary results from different constituencies have started to emerge.
Millions of voters in Mirpur Division exercised their right to vote, where a tough contest was witnessed among political parties and candidates. According to initial unofficial and unconfirmed results, the positions of candidates in various constituencies are becoming clear.
LA-7 Bhimber
In LA-7 Bhimber, PML-N’s Tariq Farooq is leading with 8,789 votes, while Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq is in second place with 5,359 votes. Azim Bakhsh has secured 1,080 votes, while Qasim Majeed has received 924 votes.
LA-1 Dadyal-1
In LA-1 Dadyal-1, a contest is underway between PPP’s Chaudhry Afzal Shahid and PML-N’s Azhar Sadiq. Azhar Sadiq is currently ahead with 1,908 votes, while PPP’s Afzal Shahid is in second place with 1,158 votes.
LA-2 Mirpur-2
In LA-2 Mirpur-2, PPP’s Chaudhry Qasim Majeed and PML-N’s Chaudhry Azim Bakhsh are competing against each other. Azim Bakhsh is leading with 1,080 votes, while PPP’s Qasim Majeed is in second place with 924 votes. Independent candidate Chaudhry Zafar Anwar is also contesting from this constituency.
LA-3 Mirpur-3
In LA-3 Mirpur-3, a close contest is expected between PPP candidate Chaudhry Yasir Sultan and PML-N candidate Chaudhry Saeed. According to initial results, PML-N’s Chaudhry Saeed is leading, while IPP’s Raja Tasleem Arif and Chaudhry Moez Majeed are trailing.
LA-4 Mirpur-4
In LA-4 Mirpur-4, PPP’s Sohaib Arshad Chaudhry and PML-N’s Chaudhry Rukhsar are facing each other. A close contest is also expected in this constituency.
LA-5 Bhimber-5 (Barnala)
In LA-5 Bhimber-5 (Barnala), Colonel (retd) Waqar Noor is contesting on a PML-N ticket, while PPP candidate Chaudhry Pervez Ashraf is also in the race. A tough competition is expected between the two candidates. IPP’s Malik Iftikhar Tayyab Awan is also contesting from this constituency.
LA-6 Bhimber-6 (Samahni)
In LA-6 Bhimber-6 (Samahni), PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq and IPP’s Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni are competing against each other. A tough contest is expected here as well.
LA-7 Bhimber-7
In LA-7 Bhimber, PML-N’s Tariq Farooq is leading with 8,789 votes, while Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq is in second place with 5,359 votes. IPP’s Professor Raja Ayaz Khan is also contesting from this constituency, making it another closely watched contest.
LA-8 Kotli-1 (Raj Mahal)
In LA-8 Kotli-1 (Raj Mahal), the contest is between PML-N’s Malik Nawaz, PPP’s Zafar Iqbal Malik, and IPP’s Zulfiqar Ali. A close competition among the three candidates is expected.
LA-9 Kotli-2 (Nakyal)
In LA-9 Kotli-2 (Nakyal), PML-N’s Sardar Umair Naeem, PPP’s Chaudhry Javed Badahnavi, and IPP’s Tahir Fareed are in the race, with a tough contest expected among the candidates.
LA-10 Kotli-3
In LA-10 Kotli-3, PML-N’s new candidate Fateh Mahmood-ul-Hassan is in first place with 1,156 votes, while PPP’s Muhammad Yaseen Chaudhry is second with 1,166 votes. IPP’s Malik Muhammad Yousaf is also contesting. All three candidates conducted active election campaigns in the constituency.
LA-11 Kotli-4 (Sehansa)
In LA-11 Kotli-4 (Sehansa), PPP’s Chaudhry Akhlaq is leading with 384 votes, while PML-N’s Muhammad Asif is second with 109 votes. IPP’s Muhammad Talib Khan is also contesting. A tough competition among candidates from different political parties is expected.
LA-12 Kotli-5 (Charhoi)
In LA-12 Kotli-5 (Charhoi), the contest is between PML-N’s Muhammad Riyasat Khan, PPP’s Muhammad Yaseen Chaudhry, and IPP’s Sobha Siddique. All three candidates have made strong efforts to secure victory.
LA-13 Kotli-6 (Khoi Ratta)
In LA-13 Kotli-6 (Khoi Ratta), Nisar Ansar Abdali is leading with 95 votes, while PML-N’s Ayaz Ahmed is second with 91 votes. PPP’s Waleed Inqalabi and IPP’s Nisar Ansar Abdali are among the candidates competing in the constituency.
