PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has described Azad Jammu and Kashmir as his second home, said the region was as dear to him as Punjab.
Addressing a mammoth political gathering in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif said if the PML-N formed the government in Azad Kashmir, it would address all of the region’s problems.
“If you vote for the PML-N, I will visit Azad Kashmir every three months and personally work to resolve the people’s issues,” he added.
During his speech Main Nawaz Sharif shared his political manifesto, assuring the people of multiple developmental projects in AJK which were previously ignored by other parties.
Nawaz Sharif said that Azad Kashmir is as dear to him as Punjab. He told the audience that if they grant his party victory, he will visit Azad Kashmir every three months to address and resolve the people’s problems.
He also said that even if he does not become Prime Minister, he will still visit Azad Kashmir every three months to help resolve public issues, adding that Azad Kashmir is his second home.
He assured the people of AJK that after coming into power, the PML N govt will spread a net of motorways across AJK and the state of AJK will be put on developmental track like Punjab. He announced that the Azad Kashmir budget would be increased significantly if the PML-N came to power. He said that during his tenure as prime minister, the region’s budget had been doubled and pledged to raise it tenfold if given another opportunity.
Nawaz Sharif strongly criticized the previous govts for not extending any developmental projects during their respective eras. Nawaz Sharif said development projects in Punjab had been initiated by Shehbaz Sharif and were now being completed by Maryam Nawaz. He also announced that the Punjab government would provide 10 green buses as a gift to the people of Muzaffarabad and that 15 mobile medical hospitals will be brought to Muzaffarabad to improve healthcare access in remote areas.
He said he had already told Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz that development work in Muzaffarabad and other parts of Azad Kashmir should be carried out on the same model as public welfare projects in Punjab. He added that Maryam Nawaz had expressed a desire to make Muzaffarabad one of Pakistan’s most beautiful cities.
Besides this, Maryam Nawaz also addressed the political rally, announcing numerous projects for the development of AJK.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N’s politics is centred on development, education and public service. She said the party wanted to see laptops, not sticks, in the hands of Kashmiri youth.
Addressing a PML-N election rally at the University Ground in Muzaffarabad, Maryam Nawaz said she had not come to the city as a guest, describing it as her own home.
She said the relationship between Kashmir and Pakistan was everlasting and could not be broken by any force in the world.
Maryam Nawaz said Punjab’s Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar housing programme would also be extended to Azad Kashmir to help low-income families fulfil their dream of owning a home.
She announced 2,000 scholarships and 5,000 laptops for talented students in Azad Kashmir, saying that providing young people with access to higher education and modern technology was among the PML-N’s top priorities so they could contribute fully to national development.
The chief minister further proposed introducing a Suthra Jammu and Kashmir programme, similar to Punjab’s cleanliness initiative, to improve sanitation, civic facilities and the overall environment.
She said the PML-N did not rely merely on claims but earned public trust through its performance, adding that the development projects underway in Punjab were clear evidence of this approach.
Maryam Nawaz urged the public to support the PML-N in the upcoming elections so that a new era of development, prosperity, education, healthcare and basic facilities could begin in Azad Kashmir.
