Web Desk: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has announced that the region’s general elections will be conducted in three phases, with polling scheduled across different districts in late July and August.

AJK Chief Election Commissioner announced the revised election plan, citing the current situation in the region as the reason for holding the polls in phases.

According to the schedule, elections in Mirpur division will take place on July 27, followed by polling in Muzaffarabad on August 2.

The final phase will be held in Poonch division on August 10, completing the region-wide electoral process.

The Election Commission said election results will also be announced in phases following the completion of polling in each area.

The commission also confirmed that elections for 12 seats reserved for refugees settled in Pakistan will be held alongside the Muzaffarabad phase on August 2.

Officials said the phased approach aims to ensure smooth election management and maintain necessary arrangements during the voting process.

The announcement comes as election authorities prepare for the upcoming AJK general elections, with polling arrangements expected to be completed separately for each division.

The Election Commission has urged relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure a transparent and organised electoral process across the region.
