The Anjuman Tajran Muzaffarabad has rejected the July 22 shutdown call issued by the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), announcing that all markets and businesses across Muzaffarabad Division will remain open.
In a joint statement, office-bearers of the traders’ association and representatives of various markets said they have no affiliation with the banned committee’s strike call and that commercial activities will continue as usual.
The traders also stated that no negotiations had taken place with the banned committee, rejecting reports of any agreement on key issues as “completely false.”
The statement was jointly issued by Acting Chairman of Anjuman Tajran Muzaffarabad Gohar Kashmiri, Madina Market President Abrar Mustafa, Gujra President Chaudhry Shahid Mumtaz, Madina Market Vice President Ali Abbas, Madina Market General Secretary Khawaja Aqeel, Anjuman Tajran General Secretary Mansoor Alam Qureshi, and other traders.
The representatives said all markets and shops across Muzaffarabad Division will remain open on July 22, with business activities continuing without interruption.
The traders’ leadership said the decision was taken in the interest of the business community, public convenience, and economic stability.
The statement comes amid ongoing reactions from different groups regarding the July 22 strike call, with the Anjuman Tajran Muzaffarabad making its position clear by announcing that commercial centres will remain open.
They further stated that deny and discourage all such activities which are aimed at creating anarchy in the country. The members of the traders’ association also reaffirmed their support and cooperation with the state and law enforcement agencies.
