Petrol price increased by Rs 5 for next day

⏱ 1 minute read

Web Desk: Government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for the latest pricing cycle, with diesel registering a much steeper rise than petrol, according to an official notification issued on Friday.

Under the revised rates, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 5.00 per litre to Rs. 315.71 per litre. At the same time, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs. 30.00 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs. 353.30 per litre.

The new fuel prices have come into effect immediately and will remain applicable until the next scheduled review unless revised earlier by the government.

The Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division announced the changes after considering recommendations submitted by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

While petrol, the country’s most widely used transport fuel, recorded a moderate increase, high-speed diesel posted a substantially larger adjustment. HSD is widely consumed by the transport, agriculture and industrial sectors, making its price a key factor in operating costs across the economy.

The latest revision forms part of the government’s periodic review of petroleum product prices, which is carried out in line with OGRA’s recommendations and prevailing market conditions.
