Web Desk: Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation against terrorists in several areas of Bannu district on Thursday, with reports of multiple explosions believed to have occurred after an ammunition cache detonated during the action.
The operation took place in the Narmi Khel, Baka Khel and Takhti Khel areas of Bannu, according to security sources.
Sources said several blasts were heard during the operation, which were attributed to the detonation of explosives stored by militants.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding casualties, the scale of the operation or the identities of those targeted.
Following the operation, security forces launched a clearance operation in the area to secure the location and assess the situation.
Officials said additional information would be shared once the ongoing operation and assessment process are completed.
The development comes amid continued security operations in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aimed at countering militant activities in the region.
