Web Desk: Security forces have killed 38 terrorists in a series of ongoing counterterrorism operations across Balochistan following recent attacks in Ziarat and along the N-25 highway, according to official statements released on Tuesday.
Authorities said the operations targeted members of groups referred to by the government as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij, adding that security forces were continuing pursuit operations against remaining suspects.
One of the operations was carried out on the N-25 highway between Jhao Cross and Kararo after intelligence reports indicated that terrorists had established roadblocks and were allegedly extorting money from travellers and local residents.
Security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in the area, killing nine terrorists and injuring several others, officials said.
Authorities added that the operation significantly disrupted the group’s activities along the strategic highway.
The military said three soldiers were martyred during the operation while confronting the terrorists. Several other security personnel sustained injuries and were receiving medical treatment.
Officials praised the soldiers for their role in the operation and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to continuing counterterrorism efforts.
The latest operations form part of a broader security campaign launched after the recent incidents in Ziarat and on the N-25 highway.
According to official figures, 38 terrorists linked to Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij have been killed so far, while operations remain ongoing to locate and eliminate other members of the groups.
Authorities said additional intelligence-based operations are continuing across Balochistan to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the province.
Officials also said security agencies are preparing a larger retaliatory campaign targeting members of Fitna al-Khawarij inside Balochistan as well as their alleged handlers and sponsors based in Afghanistan.
No further operational details or timeline for the planned action were disclosed.
Authorities said the ongoing operations demonstrate the state’s determination to protect civilians, secure major highways and prevent terrorist groups from threatening peace and stability in Balochistan.
They added that security forces would continue pursuing those responsible for attacks against civilians and state institutions while maintaining pressure on terrorist networks operating in the region.
