PTA SOCIAL MEDIA ADVISORY

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning to mobile phone users regarding the sharing of content on social media.

According to the PTA, users should use social media responsibly, as sharing blasphemous content, anti-Islam or anti-state material, obscene content, and fake news is a punishable offense.

The authority advised users to refrain from sharing any form of illegal content on social media platforms.

PTA also urged mobile phone users to report any illegal content to the PTA and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Earlier, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had issued an important public awareness alert regarding the use of foreign SIM cards across the country.

The PTA stated that the use of foreign SIMs in Pakistan is illegal and prohibited, and can create serious problems for citizens.

In a message shared on social media, the authority warned that calls and messages made through such foreign SIMs could put users’ sensitive personal and financial information at risk.

The PTA further clarified that the use of these SIMs not only increases the risk of data hacking and financial fraud but can also lead to serious legal complications for users.

The PTA emphasized that responsible digital behavior is crucial to maintaining a safe online environment. The authority advised users to ensure the authenticity of information before sharing it on social media and to avoid forwarding unverified content that could spread misinformation, create public confusion, or violate existing laws.
