Web Desk: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warmly congratulated the United States and Iran on Monday for successfully securing a historic framework peace agreement while explicitly honoring Pakistan for its constructive diplomatic role in resolving the conflict.

The UN chief issued a formal statement on social media, hailing the agreement as a vital milestone that promises to end months of severe economic and military instability across the globe.

Guterres emphasized that the breakthrough delivers an immediate and permanent ceasefire, creating a foundational roadmap toward a lasting resolution.

“I warmly congratulate the US and Iran for having reached a peace deal that provides for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a framework for further negotiations,” Guterres stated.

He added that the agreement represents a critical step toward the peaceful settlement of the long-standing conflict.

Beyond praising the primary signatories the Secretary-General extended special recognition to the international mediators that facilitated the intense, behind the scenes negotiations.

Guterres highlighted Pakistan as a key diplomatic anchor alongside several prominent regional nations that actively supported the peace process.

“My deep appreciation goes to Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and other regional countries, for the constructive role played in supporting the negotiations that led to the peace deal,” Guterres noted.

The high-level endorsement from the United Nations comes at a crucial time, reinforcing the global legitimacy of the peace framework as international markets react positively to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Consequently the public commendation solidifies Pakistan’s standing as a central mediator on the world stage validating the diplomatic efforts that successfully brought Washington and Tehran to the negotiating table.
